Totally Stockport accelerates support with Back to Business packs

Posted – 29 May 2020

Following this week’s Government announcement that non-essential retailers may reopen from 15th June, Totally Stockport, the team behind Stockport’s Business Improvement District, has ramped up its support for town centre based businesses as they begin to navigate their way out of the enforced coronavirus lockdown.

Since the majority of businesses were forced to close their doors in March, Totally Stockport has been supporting its members and bid levy payers through a series of measures. Feedback from regular surveys have informed the team and enabled them to address more pressing issues providing timely support and guidance including as to how the coronavirus has potentially altered people’s perceptions of the high street and their shopping habits. Daily news updates posted on both the website and directly to bid levy payers via email notifications have ensured that business owners are kept up to date with the very latest changes to legislation and advice while a new ‘Open for Business’ section on the website has promoted those businesses that have been able to continue to trade as well as highlighting those who have diversified and been inspired to create new enterprises.

Now, as lockdown eases, Totally Stockport have produced a unique Back to Business pack to help business owners bounce back successfully and to reopen their premises safely, adhering to social distancing rules and where their customers can revisit with confidence.

BID manager at Totally Stockport Paul Taylor said:

“It has been said many times but we are living in unprecedented times. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic has been a huge shock to us all but it is now time for us to help Stockport town centre recover, reopen and welcome back shoppers, visitors and business owners safely and securely.

“Feedback from the surveys and working with our partners at Stockport Council, the Economic Alliance team and with Marketing Stockport, has given us valuable insight into what supporting steps needed to be taken to get Stockport back and open for business.

“The Back to Business packs containing hand sanitisers, window stickers, floor stickers, directional signage, hand wipes, tape and printed Back to Work Guides are available free of charge to all our town centre, bid levy paying businesses, a vital asset to help our business owners reopen safely and with confidence.”

If you are planning to reopen your business in the town centre and would like a free Back to Business pack, please email info@totallystockport.co.uk to arrange collection.
