Stockport is to host its first Inequalities Summit in December 2021 to bring together residents, businesses and organisations to build a fairer borough.
The Summit will take place virtually on 10th December from 10am to 4pm and represents a collective call to action for all Stopfordians to deliver on the Fair and Inclusive Priority of the One Stockport Borough Plan.
Stockport is the 8th most polarised local authority area in England, with a life expectancy gap of 11 years between the most deprived and most affluent communities in the borough.
The summit provides the opportunity for residents to share their lived experiences of inequalities, and is where Stockport Council will launch their strategic approach and framework for tackling division. The event will also highlight the inspiring work of local residents, businesses and organisations already working to minimise the gap between communities across the borough.
